Well, I had to do a very emotional thing today....I had to register Nicholas for MIDDLE SCHOOL! I admit it...I was a wreck! Nicholas was totally calm about the entire thing. It was me who was freaking out. Getting the schedule, finding his locker, locating his classrooms was all fine and good for him. I don't think that I am ready for him to make that step. I remember the 6th grade...I know that was a LONG time ago...but, I still remember it! I thought I was so grown up! I rode the bus to the Middle school each day and actually thought it was a cool and dignified mode of transportation. I remember going to my first Middle school dance. I had the prettiest pink sundress... I remember that it was in 6th grade that I had my first boyfriend. I guess you could call it that...I just remember things that made me "THINK" that I was actually grown up.
Now that I have Nicholas, and he is a 6th grader...I truly realize how wrong I must have been. Eleven years old is still a baby in my book!...Or at least I would like to think so. Nicholas is growing up before our eyes. It saddens me in the way that he is no longer my Little baby and totally dependent on me for everything...but in another way, seeing him grow up is so amazing. I am getting to see him grow and develop into the young man that I hope and pray that he will be. I see a loving, respectful, honest young man who will make something of himself someday and for someone in the future.
I guess I will be o.k. when school starts...I will hug and kiss him and send him out the door each morning to be the young man God wants him to be. I will just continue to pray each night for him and the future that he faces!

Just wait till you send him to college! I still have trouble with that one a year later!!! Nicholas will do great! No doubt. You on the other hand, we'll have to wait and see, but you will survive!
Please come and join me! I am having such a wonderful time here in Oxford, Alabama!
